Yippee, a flat tire (thanks Mr. Bolt!) & the heat shield was ripped of it's mountings on my Focus today. So I had the wonderful experience of changing the tire in the cold & snow, again. Why does this always happen when it's 15 degrees outside?

Then I get back home, and put the car up on jack stands in the garage (Remembering to put the hydraulic floor jack under the car for safety!) and jury rig some fasteners to hold up the heat shield. That only took about 2 hours, including plugging the original tire & putting the spare back in the rear hatch.

Now, I'm working feverishly with my son to get his pinewood derby car ready to go for tomorrow, as the race is at 9am for some asinine reason. I missed the dad's race this evening, I was going to enter a car I made a few years ago. It still looks great in a dark maroon high gloss paint that I waxed up real nice a couple of days ago. Oh well, I've got to have a real car to get some work accomplished, as I have a few houses to appraise in SE Michigan tomorrow as well.

It's been in the mid 90s all week here, no idea where "winter" is this year.

Hehehe.....

I have an '85 Shelby Charger (still do), and back near 1991 or 92 I got a flat tire on the first day of snow in my hometown in November. 195/50-15 GY Gatorbacks. This was back when large speaker boxes started to become popular, and my hatch was full. On top of my spare tire.

I folded the rear seat forward, slid the way heavy boxes on top of the back seat, and rested the hatch on my back (because tired hatch props). I finally got the space saver spare out, changed the frickin tire in 4 inches of new snow, and got a hundred yards down the street before my spare went flat (from neglecting to ck spare tire pressure because....heavy speaker boxes).

I was done by this point. I called the dealership where I worked, asked for a shuttle ride, and parked my car in a church parking lot. The dealership sent a porter for me, who was from Florida and had never driven in snow.

He pulled into the parking lot, spun his first donut because he thought it would be fun, and landed deep in the ditch.

Feel any better?

Sounds like you need to go to confession.
